By Wale Mustapha

Nigerian winger Ademola Lookman has been rewarded for his outstanding performances with Atalanta this season by earning a place in the Serie A Team of the Season.

Lookman played a key role in Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad during the 2024/25 campaign, scoring 15 goals and providing five assists in 30 league appearances.

His consistency and attacking flair have once again earned him recognition among the league’s elite.

This marks the second consecutive season that the 27-year-old Super Eagles forward has been named in the Serie A Team of the Season.

Lookman’s Atalanta teammate Mateo Retegui also made the cut, highlighting the club’s strong attacking contributions this season.

The Team of the Season features a host of top performers from across the league, including five players from Napoli: Romelu Lukaku, Scott McTominay, Alessandro Buongiorno, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, and Amir Rrahmani.

Inter Milan are also well represented, with Marcus Thuram, Nicolò Barella, Alessandro Bastoni, and Federico Dimarco all earning selections.

AC Milan duo Christian Pulisic and Tijjani Reijnders were also included, while other notable names on the list include Riccardo Orsolini (Bologna), Nico Paz (Como), Moise Kean (Fiorentina), Mattia Zaccagni (Lazio), Evan Ndicka (AS Roma), Che Adams (Torino), David De Gea (Fiorentina), and Juventus quartet Manuel Locatelli, Kenan Yildiz, Khéphren Thuram, and Federico Gatti.

Speculation continues to swirl around Lookman’s future, with reports suggesting he may leave Atalanta at the end of the season.
