Adoo Yina Joins University of Pittsburgh from Nasarawa Amazons

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigerian footballer Adoo Yina has completed her move to the University of Pittsburgh, transitioning from Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership side, Nasarawa Amazons.

The American institution officially announced the arrival of the talented midfielder, shortly after Yina took to social media to bid farewell to her former club.

“To the fantastic team of Nasarawa Amazons, it’s time for me to say goodbye,” Yina wrote.
“Thank you for the unforgettable experiences and the support you’ve shown me. I leave with a sense of pride in what we’ve accomplished together.

“It’s been a privilege working with all of you — the great coaches, future superstars, and amazing staff. I’ve learned so much and truly appreciate the collaborative spirit of the team. I’m excited to see what you all achieve in the future, and I hope we can stay in touch!”

Her departure comes just before Nasarawa Amazons’ highly anticipated President Federation Cup final clash with Rivers Angels. Despite being away, Yina expressed her continued support for her former teammates.

“I will be cheering you on from my end in the finals of the President Federation Cup, hoping you become champions 🎉
Wishing you success as a team and as individuals in all your endeavors.
Love you all.
— Yina Adoo 🙏❤️”

Yina has represented Nigeria at both the U-17 and U-20 levels and played a crucial role in Nasarawa Amazons’ campaign, which saw them finish as runners-up in the 2024/25 NWFL Premiership Super Six.

Her move to the United States marks a significant step in her career, as she aims to combine top-level football with higher education at one of the NCAA’s competitive programs.
