Afcon 2023: Akor Adams eyes Super Eagles chance after Montpellier breakthrough

Montpellier forward, Akor Adams has set an ambition of appearing on the colors of the Nigeria national football team.

Akor teamed up with Montpellier from Lillestrom in the summer and has been churning out impressive performance in the French Ligue 1.

The 23-year-old forward has described playing for the Super Eagles as a dream he has nurtured since childhood.

He further believes achieving the dream in the AFCON in January would be a dream come true but his focused on Montpellier games in the French Ligue.

“I think the national team is the dream of every boy who grew up in his country and for me it’s also the same,” Akor told the club website.

“The AFCON is two months away but right now the games in Montpellier are my biggest focus, that would come when it comes and then we would see.”

Akor has scored nine goals in eleven appearances this season and he has been a focal forward for the French side.

The former Flying Eagles forward won the Montpellier October player of the month and made the Ligue 1 team of the month of October.

The Michel Der Zakarian tutored side occupy the 11th position on the Ligue 1 table with 11 points and will square up against PSG in their next game on November third in Paris.
