AFCON 2023: Jose Peseiro reveals plans for Maduka Okoye and Tyrone Ebuehi

Nigeria head coach Jose Peseiro has revealed his plans for Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye and Empoli full-back Tyrone Ebuehi for the African Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
The Super Eagles boasts of three young goalkeepers, Cyprus-based Francis Uzoho, Israel-based Adebayo Adeleye, and Udinese star Maduka Okoye, but Nigerians still have doubts about who should be number one.
Despite being the first choice at the last edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Okoye has not been in Peseiro’s favor book to feature in a match.
Since taking over the team, Peseiro has preferred Uzoho as his first choice despite his frequent errors since the World Cup qualifiers that cost Nigeria a slot at the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Meanwhile, Empoli’s defender Tyronne Ebuehi has also found it difficult to break into Peseiro’s starting lineup but the manager insisted both players are part of his plans.
The Portuguese spoke on the two players chances of making the squad.
“Ebuehi and Okoye belong to the group of players we follow and are part of the list of those we normally call,” Peseiro told Sportitalia (via TMW).
“This way, they can participate in any competition the Super Eagles play in.”
