Nigeria’s Minister of Sports, John Enoh has affirmed the Presidency’s full support for Nigeria’s senior men’s national team in their pursuit to win their fourth African Cup of Nations (AFCON) title next year in Ivory Coast.
Enoh emphasized the significant backing extended to the Super Eagles ahead of the 2023 AFCON.
He hopes the team will make good use of the backing to get good results in Cote d’Ivoire.
“We are hoping that we are going to make the best out of it. We have the full backing of the president.” Enoh told journalists at the Tunde Idiagbon International Airport in Ilorin, during a visit to Kwara State.
The Minister conveyed the collective ambition of the Super Eagles to secure victory at the Africa Cup of Nations again, a decade after their last triumph in South Africa.
He expressed the Ministry’s collaboration with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to ensure meticulous planning and execution for a triumphant tournament.
With victories at the 1980 (Nigeria), 1994 (Tunisia), and 2013 (South Africa) AFCONs, the three-time African champions will camp in Abu Dhabi before jetting out to Ivory Coast.
Equatorial Guinea, Cote d’Ivoire, and Equatorial Guinea await the Super Eagles in Group A at the 2023 AFCON.
