AFCON 2023: ‘Stop playing matches until May 29’ – Shehu Sani warns Super Eagles

Former Nigeria lawmaker Senator Shehu Sani has joined football fans online to react to the shocking defeat of the Super Eagles at the hands of Guinea-Bissau in Abuja on Friday.
Nigeria fell to a shocking 1-0 loss against Guinea-Bissau in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers on Friday, March 24, 2023, at the Moshood Abiola Stadium.
The Super Eagles suffered a first ever loss to Guinea-Bissau no thanks to Mame Balde’s lone strike, condemning the Nigerians to the first defeat in the AFCON qualifiers and the Senator took to social media to express his displeasure.
“For the peace and health of our hearts, it’s better we stop playing any international football tournament until after May 29th. Bad luck has become our only luck,” Sani wrote on his Twitter account.
Both sides are now set to meet again on Monday for the second leg of the encounter. Guinea-Bissau have now leapfrogged Nigeria in group A with seven points from three games and the Eagles will look to redeem their glory.
