AFCON 2025: Super Eagles Set for Mozambique Showdown in Round of 16

Nigeria’s Super Eagles will face Mozambique in a Round of 16 encounter at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, as the knockout stage gets underway.

The clash is scheduled for Monday, January 5, 2026, with kickoff set for 8:00 PM at the Complexe Sportif de Fèz.

Nigeria head into the fixture in high spirits after a flawless group-stage campaign, recording three wins from three matches to top Group C. Under head coach Eric Chelle, the Super Eagles have shown attacking intent, squad depth, and growing cohesion, scoring freely while rotating key players.

Mozambique, meanwhile, progressed to the knockout rounds after navigating a tough group phase and will be aiming to spring a surprise against the three-time African champions.
They finished third in Group F.

With a place in the quarterfinals at stake, the Super Eagles will be looking to maintain their momentum and take another decisive step toward a fourth AFCON title, while Mozambique hope to write a new chapter in their tournament history.

All eyes will be on Fèz on Monday night as the battle for continental glory intensifies.
