AFCON Qualifier: Rwanda coach lauds goalie for getting clean sheet against Nigeria
By Saheed Afolabi
Rwanda coach Torsten Spittler has praised goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari for his outstanding performance during their goalless draw against Nigeria in Kigali.
Ntwari was pivotal in keeping the Super Eagles from scoring, with a series of impressive saves throughout the match.
Spittler lauded Ntwari’s efforts, stating, “Ntwari was incredible. His saves were crucial, and he gave us a chance to stay in the game.”
He continued, “His performance was key in securing a point against a strong Nigerian side.”
Ntwari, who plays for Kaizer Chiefs, made several crucial stops, notably denying Ademola Lookman on two occasions and frustrating Nigeria’s top attackers, Victor Osimhen and Moses Simon, with close-range saves.
Despite the draw, Rwanda has managed to secure two points from their first two matches in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
