Ahmed Mido Blasts CAF Over WAFCON Final Decision, Backs Senegal as True Champions

Former Egyptian international Ahmed Mido has launched a scathing attack on the Confederation of African Football (CAF), describing the body as “a real joke” following the controversial decision to take the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title away from Senegal and award it to Morocco.

In a strongly worded reaction, Mido accused CAF of presiding over what he called one of the biggest scandals in African football history, while also criticizing African football legends involved in CAF events and meetings.

“CAF is a real joke. I have been saying this for years,” Mido said.

He did not hide his frustration over the decision, insisting that Senegal were the better side in the final and deserved to be crowned champions based on their performance on the pitch.

“The decision to take away the Cup from Senegal and hand it to Morocco is the biggest scandal in the history of football,” he stated.

Mido stressed that his comments were not directed against Morocco or its people, noting his admiration and respect for the country, but maintained that the outcome of the final was deeply unfair.

“I’m not here against Morocco. I love Morocco and I love Moroccans, and I have a lot of Moroccan friends who I really love and respect, but this has gone too far,” he added.

According to the former striker, Senegal earned the title on merit during the final and should have been recognized as the rightful champions of Africa.

“You lost on the pitch, Senegal were the better team in the final, they deserve to be the champions of Africa,” Mido said.

He concluded by calling for major changes in African football administration, insisting that those responsible must be removed immediately.

“There must be a revolution in African football. All these people must go, and today not tomorrow,” he declared.
