Ahmed Musa rallies Super Eagles for vital World Cup Qualifying matches

By Monsurah Olatunji

Nigeria captain Ahmed Musa is optimistic about the team’s prospects ahead of their World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic.

Although Finidi was officially confirmed in his new role last month, he spent the last two years as assistant to former coach Jose Peseiro.

Musa was also part of Jose Peseiro’s squad that advanced to the AFCON 2023 final game before losing to Ivory Coast, despite not playing any of the matches.

However, the former Leicester City winger has voiced his strong support for the team and believes they can achieve maximum points in both matches, emphasizing the significance of the ties in his remarks before the qualifiers, calling on the Super Eagles to win both matches.

“Everyone knows the importance of both games, the players understand what’s at stake, and I want them to go all out and win both games. I am upbeat they will do this,” he told ESPN.

“There is a lot of expectation for Finidi now that we have two very difficult games to play for the World Cup qualifiers.

“The important thing is just to win these two games because if we win, a lot of confidence will come for him and the team. So we just have to support him and wish him the best of luck.”
