Akinwunmi Amoo: Nigerian youngster seals loan love to Cypriot side Omonia Nicosia

Former Nigerian youth international, Akinwunmi Amoo has completed a move to top Cypriot side, Omonia Nicosia till the end of the season from Copenhagen.

Amoo, who was a standout performer at the FIFA U17 World Cup in 2019 for the Golden Eaglets will be playing for the Belgian side till 2026 as revealed in the contract details.

The 21-year-old, who cost Copenhagen €3m for his move from Hammarby in 2022 will be joining another Nigerian, Francis Uzoho at Nicosia.

He was able to feature four times for Copenhagen and a goal during his time with the Belgian side that marred by niggling injuries and controversies off the pitch.

Amoo’s move to Omonia Nicosia was made easy by Jesper Jansson who worked with the Nigerian while at Swedish side, Hammarby before joining Omonia as Sporting Director.
