Akwa United promote two U15 stars to first team ahead of NPFL kickoff

Akwa United U-15 captain Nsikan Alloysius and goalkeeper Covenant Bassey have been promoted to the club’s first team ahead of the 2022/23 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.
The youngsters recently completed their secondary education at Government Technical College, Ewet Offot, and Aka Community Secondary school in Uyo respectively have been registered as youth players to play in the topflight.
Nsikan has been assigned jersey number 38 while Covenant will wear jersey number 40, while Covenant, a goalkeeper participated in the 2021 NPFL/LA LIGA Promise tournament in Enugu and was invited to the National U-15 camp which was captained by the former.
The two players have been training with the Promise Keepers’ main team since returning from the 2021 NPFL/LA LIGA tournament in Enugu.
Nest of Champions in Uyo will be hosting the opening ceremony of the 2022/23 season on Sunday as Akwa United’s game against Bendel Insurance will go ahead as planned on Sunday, January 8, 2023.
