Akwa United silence One Rocket to claim 14th Akwa Ibom State FA Cup title

Akwa United crushed FC One Rocket 4-1 to emerge the champions of the Akwa Ibom FA Cup for a record 14th time.

Goals from Abbey Benson, Uche Collins, Cyril Olisema, Wisdom Fernando condemned FC One Rocket to a devastating defeat in Monday’s final at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.

Abbey Benson gave Akwa United the lead in the 19th minute following a massive assist from Wisdom Fernando.

Cyril Olisema turned provider for Uche Collins to double their lead of the game in the 24th minute.

Jephta Clinton pulled a surprise goal back for FC One Rocket in the 29th minute of play to drag the NNL side back into the game.

Cyril Olisema pop-up to restore the Promise Keepers two goal cushion lead in the encounter.

When it seems all over, Wisdom Fernando compounded FC One Rocket miseries in the game to score a good result.

Both teams will represent the Akwa Ibom State in the men’s category of this year’s national finals.
