As Nigeria gears up for their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Benin Republic, Alex Iwobi has expressed confidence and readiness for the upcoming match.
The Super Eagles are eager to avenge their previous 2-1 loss to Benin in Abidjan.
The teams will clash again on September 7, 2024, and Iwobi is determined to secure a spot in the next AFCON tournament, aiming to build on their strong performance in the last edition.
After a Premier League match where Iwobi and fellow Nigerian Calvin Bassey faced off against Wilfred Ndidi’s Leicester, former NFF pitch announcer Ayo Olu Ibidapo spoke with the Nigerian stars as they prepare for the international break.
“There’s still a lot to fight for; we have a lot to prove,” Iwobi said.
“We know the quality we have and the performance we deliver for our clubs. We need to bring that consistency to the national team and get the points needed to qualify.”
