By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Edo Queens player, Amarachi Odoma says her invitation to the Nigeria’s senior women’s national team as an amazing and live long opportunity.

Odoma is part of the home based players invited for this month’s friendly encounter with Cameroon in Abeokuta.

After conforming her invitation, Odoma spoke with www.nigeriafootball.ng on how she responded to her maiden call up.

“It was amazing when I saw the invitation. Honestly I shouted and smiled. I thanked God for the opportunity to be part of the great Super Falcons squad,” She said.

“After that, I was composed and knew that I am going for a higher challenge.

“My training started from that very day. I put more efforts because I have to put in my best with little time to train and perform and be very serious about this chance and experience.”

A member of Edo Queens squad at the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League where the Benin City based side finished fourth, Nigeria’s second best result at the competition, Odoma relived the experience.

“It was a very good one going to the CAF Women’s Champions League. It was a good experience.” She added.

“It was a very good experience to represent Nigeria at that stage.”

Super Falcons is using the friendly against Cameroon to prepare for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) taking place in Morocco this year.

“If one is called upon as a player, we know that Nigeria is still number one in Africa. One have to put in one’s best. Ghana, Cameroon, Morocco, and South Africa are not small countries,” She continued.

“The task ahead is nothing to jeopardize with seriousness to work hard as there is greater reward for that.” She concluded.

Odoma hoped her national team experience help her in future club endeavors as Edo Queens aim to return to b continent next season after succumbing the league title to Bayelsa Queens.
