Aminu Umar Scores First League Goal for Osmanlispor as Echiejile Sits Out for Sivasspor

Nigeria’s Aminu Umar, a Rio 2016 Olympic bronze medalist, showcased his prowess on the pitch as he netted his first league goal of the season for Osmanlispor. The Turkish Super Lig encounter against Kasimpasa saw Osmanlispor emerge victorious with a convincing 3-0 scoreline on Saturday.

In this fixture, Umar made his sixth league appearance for Osmanlispor in the Turkish top flight, and it was a significant moment for the club as they secured their first win of the season following five defeats and one draw. Umar’s name found its place on the score sheet in the 59th minute, bolstering Osmanlispor’s lead to 3-0.

The goals for Osmanlispor began with Musa Cagiran, who found the back of the net in the 16th minute, followed by Sokol Cikalleshi, who added to the tally in the 45th minute. This commanding victory, however, has not lifted Osmanlispor out of the bottom spot in the 18-team league table, as they now have four points from seven games.

In another Turkish first division match, Super Eagles defender Elderson Echiejile, who is expected to feature in the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Zambia in Uyo on October 7, faced a 90-minute spell on the bench for 10-man Sivasspor. Despite being reduced to 10 players, Sivasspor triumphed over Antalyaspor with a 3-1 victory, securing the ninth position in the league with nine points.

The performances of Nigerian players in the Turkish Super Lig continue to be of interest to football enthusiasts, with Umar’s remarkable goal and Echiejile’s poised presence serving as highlights in this weekend’s action.
