Former Flying Eagles star Simon Zenke says Arsenal and Manchester United could now regret failing to sign Victor Osimhen before the Nigeria international moved to Galatasaray.

Osimhen joined Galatasaray from Napoli after attracting interest from a number of leading European clubs, including Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United. The striker eventually chose a move to Rams Park, where he has become an important player for the Istanbul-based side.

Zenke believes the transfer represented an outstanding opportunity for Galatasaray, particularly given Osimhen’s market value at the time.

“I think it was a real opportunity transfer for Galatasaray because his value was over 100 million Euros (N152 billion) at the time,” Zenke told Turkiye Gazetesi via Habersarikirmizi.

The former Nigeria international was also surprised that Arsenal and Manchester United did not pursue the striker more strongly, despite both clubs needing a forward.

“I was really surprised that none of the big European clubs like Arsenal and Manchester United, who needed a striker at the time, were after him. I think they regret it now after seeing his performance in Turkiye,” he said.

Osimhen has made a significant impact since arriving at Galatasaray, scoring 68 goals and supplying 19 assists in 83 appearances in all competitions.

His contribution has established him as a key figure for the Turkish giants, and the Super Eagles striker will be looking to continue his strong goalscoring form for the club.
