Arsenal end 13-match wait for set-piece goal against Everton
Arsenal ended a run of 13 consecutive matches without scoring from a set piece, excluding penalties, when they took an early lead against Everton in the eighth round of the Premier League.
The breakthrough came in the seventh minute at Emirates Stadium after Martin Ødegaard delivered a corner into the Everton penalty area. Confusion followed, allowing Ezri Konsa to finish and put the hosts 1-0 ahead.
The goal brought an end to Arsenal’s wait for a set-piece goal in all competitions, a sequence which had stretched back to May of last season, according to data from Opta.
OptaJoe posted: “Arsenal scored their first set-piece goal in all competitions (ex. penalties) since May of last season against Crystal Palace, ending a run of 13 games without one.”
The moment was also shared by beIN SPORTS, which reported Konsa as the goalscorer and posted footage of the opening goal on 24 October 2026.
Mikel Arteta’s side are aiming to take advantage of Manchester City’s 2-1 defeat by Aston Villa and strengthen their position in the race for the Premier League title.
