Arsenal ready one last Eddie Nketiah contract offer as Manchester City set Gabriel Jesus price

Arsenal are readying one final contract offer for young striker Eddie Nketiah as they try to keep him at the club beyond this summer.

Nketiah has impressed since being asked to lead the line in recent weeks for Mikel Arteta’s side, grabbing two goals in three games and offering Arsenal far more impetus in attack than Alexandre Lacazette had been doing.

And Mikel Arteta has spoken previously about the striker, who he wishes to stay, admitting that he had been ‘unfair’ with him and that he deserved more chances to play.

“What Eddie has done tonight is because of what he has done for the last 10 months and no-one has noticed’, he told the media after Nketiah’s two goals propelled Arsenal to a 4-2 win over Chelsea.

“I said to him I haven’t been fair. I should have been playing him more. We have other issues as well and that has not been easy. But he deserved completely what happened to him tonight.”

And now, the 22 year old’s performances are thought to be warranting yet another attempt to agree a new contract with the north London club.

That is according to the Daily Mail, who claim that ‘Nketiah will wait until the end of the season before making a decision on his future but Arsenal are gearing up for one last effort to keep their young striker’.

But he could face competition.

And that competition could come in the form of Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus, who was linked with a move to the club last week as the Gunners bid to strengthen their forward line.

Erling Haaland is expected to join Manchester City this summer, paving the way for Jesus to leave in search of more gametime, and Arsenal are currently thought to be at the front of the queue for his signature.

And he wouldn’t break the bank either, with a price tag of £40m having been placed on his head by Pep Guardiola and co, according to a report in the Mirror.

He could be a very shrewd addition to the Gunners’ frontline.
