Ashleigh Plumptre ends Saudi debut season with goal as Al-Ittihad thrash Al Riyadh

Nigerian defender Ashleigh Plumptre showcased her prowess on the field as her Saudi Arabian women’s league team, Al-Ittihad, triumphed over Al Riyadh in a resounding 13-2 victory in their final league match of the season on Saturday.

The first half concluded with a 2-2 draw, with Leighanne Rober and Asrar Alshaibani finding the net for Al-Ittihad.

However, the second half witnessed a remarkable surge from Al-Ittihad, who netted 11 goals to secure a convincing win with a final score of 13-2.

Layla Iskandar secured a hat-trick, while Plumptre contributed with a crucial goal, marking her team’s fourth score.

Joury Tarek (brace), Woujod Alharthi, Mariam Altameimi, Nor Mustafa (brace), and Raneem Alshareef also made significant contributions to Al-Ittihad’s impressive goal tally.

Plumptre had previously scored a hat-trick twice in the league, further solidifying her impact on the team’s performance.

Despite the commendable effort, Al-Ittihad concluded the league season in second place with 19 points from 11 games, trailing behind champions Al Nassr by 12 points.

Rita Chikwelu and Chinaza Agoh’s Al Shabab secured the fourth position on the log with 18 points.

Meanwhile, Tochukwu Oluehi’s Easter Flames settled for seventh place with four points, edging out the bottom side Al Riyadh by three points.
