By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria defender, Ashleigh Plumptre’s strike in her second hat-trick of the season during a 6-2 win for Al-Ittihad against Al Ahly has been nominated for the Saudi Women’s Premier League’s Goal of the Month.

The Nigeria international’s left footed strike from outside the box made the shortlist for the best goal of the month alongside two other goals, which are also long strikes.

To land a back-to-back accolades, the Super Falcons star will battle it out with Tanzania star, Clara Lovanga, who scored a right-footed strike from outside the box as well as Mexican Veronica Perez right footed goal.

Plumptre scored a first-half hat-trick to inspire her team to a derby win against Al-Ahly.

The hat-trick was her second for Al-Ittihad after she got her first in her first game for the Saudi side.

Plumptre joined Al-Ittihad from English Women’s Super League side, Leicester City after the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

She is yet to play for the Super Falcons since switching to the Saudi side.

Her six goals for the Saudi side were hat-tricks as she continued to adapt to life in Saudi Arabia.
