Nigeria women’s national team forward Asisat Oshoala has revealed that she doesn’t have a personal target ahead of this month’s FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The FC Barcelona striker promised to score goals at the tournament for the Super Falcons.
Nigeria will open its campaign on the 21st of July against Canada by 3:30 am Nigerian time.
The top goal scorer for FC Barcelona in the league for the past two seasons is confident of scoring goals at the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
“First of all, I don’t keep or set personal targets for myself. All I want is to score goals as a striker,” Oshoala told Brila FM.
“At this stage, I think I have played football to the level that the most important thing is the team result. It doesn’t matter who scored.
“The most important thing is for the team to proceed, so I don’t have any personal targets but as a team what we have in our heads is to have a good outing and be proud of ourselves at the end of the games.”
The nine-time African champions will meet Canada, Australia, and the Republic of Ireland in Group B as it attempts to make it past the group stage for the third time.
In 1999, the team got to the quarter-final where it faltered to Brazil on golden goal before losing to Germany in the Round of 16 in 2019.
