Record Africa Women’s Player of the Year winner, Asisat Oshoala was on target alongside Zambian international Rachael Kundananji as European champions, FC Barcelona defeated NWSL side Bay FC 5-2 in the United States (US) preseason tour on Wednesday.

Oshoala scored the first goal of the encounter in the 17th minute before Kika Nazareth’s equaliser four minutes later.

Kundananji restored the American side’s lead in the 32nd minute but the lead lasted three minutes before Caroline Graham Hansen restored parity for Pere Romeu’s side.

Maria Leon, Claudia Pina, and Patricia Guijarro scored three goals in the second half to seal a 5-2 win.

Oshoala who has scored three goals with an assist in 16 NWSL games was replaced by Joelle Anderson in the 46th minute.

The former Arsenal FC player joined Bay FC in February after five seasons with Barcelona.

The six-time African Player of the Year helped the Spanish club to four Liga F trophies and two Champions League titles, remaining their fourth all-time leading scorer with 117 goals in 162 appearances.

When asked about playing her old team, Oshoala told reporters, “It will be weird. I hope I don’t pass it to the wrong team thinking this is my teammate. But it will be fun, I’m excited they will be here.”

Bay FC will resume NWSL activities against Portland Thorns while Barcelona conclude their US Tour against USL side, Dallas Trinity.
