Austin Okocha denies interest in NFF Presidency amid viral rumors

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
Nigeria football legend Austin ‘Jay-Jay’ Okocha has debunked reports linking him with an ambition to contest for the presidency of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
The former Super Eagles captain took to his official X handle (@official\_jj10) to set the record straight, describing the circulating posts as “false information.”
“Hello everyone, I just want to use this opportunity to say that the news and post that have been circulating is false. I have not said or spoken to anyone about Nigerian football or any interest in becoming NFF president,” Okocha wrote.
Okocha further clarified that he is currently in Kigali, Rwanda, attending SPORTSBIZAFRICA, and urged those spreading the rumors to desist.
“I appreciate my people and understand the frustration we’re going through, but be rest assured that better days are ahead. Let’s keep believing. I know it is not easy, but we are all in it together. God bless and please let’s stay strong,” he added.
Okocha, regarded as one of Africa’s most skillful footballers, captained the Super Eagles during the early 2000s and has remained an influential figure in Nigerian football since his retirement.
