Bala Arikya upbeat about Nasarawa United’s NPFL survival after Shooting Stars win

By Monsurah Olatunji

Head coach of Nasarawa United, Bala Arikya has backed his side to fight till the end for the survival following his side 1-0 victory against Shooting Stars in their Nigeria Premier Football League encounter at the New Jos Stadium.
Nelson Abiam’s first-half goal helped the Solid Miners pip the Oluyole Warriors as they claimed their first clean sheet since their 2-0 win against Remo Stars in February and brought an end to a run of six-game without win.
And the interim manager admitted that the game was very difficult but hopeful about extending their newly found winning form against Kwara United.
“The game was very difficult because Shooting Stars is a very disciplined team and we thank God that we won the game,” Arikya told media.
“We are not yet out of the relegation zone until the final league game. Our fans should be patient and hope that we will survive relegation. We are going to Kwara United to win.”
Nasarawa United have two matches left till the end of the season against the Afonja Warriors in Akure and a home match against league leaders Bendel Insurance.
The Solid Miners have now moved to eighth position on the Group A but will need to win their remaining two games to be sure of escaping relegation.
