Barrister Edeh hints at Benue State Government taking ownership of Honey Badgers

The Benue State Football Association (BSFA) chairman, Barrister Paul Edeh has hinted at the possibility of Benue state government taking ownership of Honey Badgers.
The Makurdi based side plays in the country’s second tier, the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Championship and the state FA are keen on prioritizing the development of women’s football in Benue.
The FA boss reveals plans in seek an NWFL Premiership place for Honey Badgers, stressing that talks are on with the Benue state government for possible conversion of the Championship to a state owned club.
“The Benue State Football Association is very determined to put women forward, and I say so with a deep sense of responsibility being founder of two women clubs that are operating concurrently and smoothly,” Edeh told Exclusive News.
“By the grace of God, I’m very sure that many women football clubs will spring up in every nook and cranny of the state with time. It is my desire that pretty soon Honey Badgers will qualify to play in the NWFL Premiership.
“And when you do so, there are discussions already on for the Benue state government to come into this matter and possibly take over Honey Badgers when discussions are famed up. When that happens, I’m very sure you will be more excited and happier for it.”
Honey Badgers regained their status as a second tier women’s football team in Nigeria as they escaped relegation by the whiskers at the last NWFL Championship played at Remo Stars stadium, Ikenne.
