Bayelsa Queens visit hospitalized supporters with Women’s Federation Cup trophy

After a 4-2 win on penalties over Rivers Angels in the final of the 2023 Women’s Federation Cup in Asaba, Bayelsa Queens visited its supporters at the Asaba Specialist Hospital with the trophy.
The Bayelsa State supporters’ team were in transit to Asaba for the Nigerian Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Super Six final between Delta Queens and Bayelsa Queens when a bus in the entourage was involved in a fatal crash after Kwale two weeks ago.
The accident led to the death of four members of the supporters club, and seven others sustaining varying degree of injuries still receiving medical treatments at Asaba Specialist Hospital, Delta State.
Team captain, Uzoamama Igwe was spotted taking pictures with supporters of the team on their sick bed.
“We are thrilled to have visited our supporters who are still at Asaba Specialist Hospital with the TINGO FEDERATION CUP trophy! Our victory would not have been possible without the unwavering support of our fans, and we are grateful for your unending encouragement,” The club posted on its social media pages.

Cup holders Bayelsa Queens retained the trophy with a 4-3 penalty shoot-out defeat of Rivers Angels after regulation time ended 0-0.
Former junior international goalkeeper Onyinye Okeke saved from Angels’ substitute Sofia Agyaakwa before Zainab Olapade scored to give joy to the Bayelsa fans.
Women’s champions Bayelsa Queens pocketed the sum of 10 million naira (Ten Million Naira Only) while Rivers Angels were five million naira (N5 Million Naira Only) richer.
