Holders of Bayelsa State FA Cup, Bayelsa United will start its title defence with a clash against non-league side Light International FC of Nembe.
The Nigeria Premier Football League side won the State FA Cup last year with a comfortable 4-1 thrashing of Dreams Football Academy at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa.
The draw conducted at the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Center in Yenagoa will see Odi-based side Dream Boys Football Academy square off against Prosperity Cup champions Eternal Grace Ministry, EGM FC.
Rich Destiny FC of Biogbolo will trade tackles with Afini FC of Amarata in Yenegoa Derby. Last year’s semi-finalist Crusader FC of Peretorugbene will take on 2019 finalist Abaye FC Koluama.
The winner of the clash between Bayelsa United and Light International FC will face either Rich Destiny or Afini FC. Dream Boys FA or EGM FC will battle the winner of the Crusader vs Abaye game in a yet-to-be-determined venue.
In the women’s draw, Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Champions, Bayelsa Queens were drawn bye as they wait for the tie between NWFL Championship side Crystal Stars FC and new Golden stars FC.
The final of the FA Cup will come up on the 19th of March at the Samson Siasia Stadium with winners representing the state at the National Finals.
Bayelsa United and Bayelsa Queens both won the 2021 edition at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, Edo State while the 2022 National FA Cup was inconclusive.
