Beach Soccer legend Abu Azeez lands CAF commentator gig

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
Nigeria beach soccer legend, Abu Azeez was on commentary duties as the 2024 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations (BSAFCON) got underway in Egypt on Saturday.
The 2013 BSAFCON top goal scorer handled matchday commentary with Piers Edwards.
After the experience, Azeez took to his X handle to express his joy in landing the CAF commentary gig.
“It’s a delight and pleasure to be the official commentator/analyst of the 2024 @CAF_Online AFCON beach soccer with the world’s famous @piers_e in Hurghada, Egypt,” he posted.
With the Nigeria Beach Soccer national team, Azeez got to the final of the BSAFCON on three occasions but the Sand Eagles could not clinch the titles in 2011, 2016, and 2018.
The team also won a bronze medal in 2015 and a fourth-place finish in 2013.
After getting the Beach Soccer Worldwide (BSWW) Tour Copa Lagos Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 2011, 2012, and 2017, he was appointed as BSWW Ambassador in 2017.
To cap it up, Azeez made BSWW’s top 50 best players the same year (2017) alongside Emeka Ogbonna.
