Bright Osayi-Samuel scores on return from Afcon as Fenerbahçe go top of the table

Nigeria international Bright Osayi-Samuel become the latest Super Eagles player to score on his return from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire.

The Super Eagles defender was the hero on Saturday evening as his goal ensured maximum points for Fenerbahce in their 2-0 victory over Hatayaspor.

The 26-year-old was also a key figure as Nigeria reached the final of the recently concluded tournament.

Osayi-Samuel opened the scoring for the visitors in the 25th minute to set them on their way to three points after defeat in the Turkish Cup in midweek.

He was a constant threat down the right flank before being substituted in the 66th minute.

The defender has been in excellent form this season, scoring three goals along with one assist in 14 league appearances.

Cengiz Under added a second in the 40th minute to wrap up a comfortable victory for the Istanbul giants.

The victory catapulted Fenerbahce to the apex of the Turkish Super Lig with 73 points as they sought to catch league leaders Galatasaray.
