Bruno Onyemaechi clinches Greek Super League title with Olympiacos

By Dayo Awoniyi

Super Eagles defender Bruno Onyemaechi has claimed his first major European title after helping Olympiacos secure the 2024/25 Greek Super League crown with a 1-0 victory over AEK Athens on Sunday night.

A decisive goal from Ayoub El Kaabi sealed the win for Olympiacos, who now sit atop the league table with 66 points—an unassailable lead with three matches remaining.

Onyemaechi, who joined the Greek giants in January from Portuguese side Boavista in a €2.5 million deal, has made six league appearances since his arrival.

His versatility in defense has proven crucial for Olympiacos, particularly as the club also continues its campaign in the UEFA Europa League.

The title win further solidifies Olympiacos’ status as the most successful club in Greek football history, with more than 45 domestic league championships to their name.

Onyemaechi’s role in the team’s success underscores his steady rise in European football and highlights Nigeria’s continued production of top-tier football talent.
