CAF CC: Rivers United depart Nigeria for Motema Pembe clash in Angola

Nigeria Champions and sole representative at this season’s CAF Confederation Cup, Rivers United have departed Nigeria ahead of its next continental assignment against Motema Pembe of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Port Harcourt-based side departed the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Nigeria.
The team departed Abuja for Luanda, Angola via Ethiopian airline flight at 1:25 pm on Thursday, with a stopover in Addis Ababa, the Ethiopian capital and the contingent is expected to arrive in Luanda, Angola on Friday.
The Sunday CAF Confederation Cup encounter will take place at the Estádio 11 de Novembro in Luanda, Angola.
Pembe opted to use the Estádio 11 de Novembro in Luanda, Angola for their home matches after CAF rejected their stadium.
Stanley Eguma’s side occupy the second position in the group with three points after two games, a point behind leader Diables Noirs of Congo.
They started their group stage campaign with a 3-0 loss to Diables Noirs in Group B before recording a victory of the same margin over Asec Mimosa of Ivory Coast last Sunday.
After the last continental assignment, the Pride of Rivers returned to the Nigeria Premier Football League campaign with a 2-2 draw with Bayelsa United on Wednesday.
Motema Pembe is yet to win any game after two group games with draws against Asec Mimosa and Diables Noirs.
