CAF CC: Rivers United pick away draw against Etoile Filante

Rivers United played out a 0-0 draw with Etoile Filante of Burkina Faso in the first leg of the second round tie on Sunday.

The match took place at the Stade de Yamoussoukro, Yamoussoukro with Nigeria representative in the 2023/2024 CAF Confederations Cup and their Ivorian hosts not separated after 90 minutes.

The Pride of Rivers areived Yamoussoukro for their first continental campaign of the season with the confidence of picking a win but will be glad with the result ahead of the return leg.

The 0-0 draw means Rivers United will have to avoid any score draw in order to progress to the next stage.

The return leg will take place at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt on Nigerian Independence day, October 1, 2023.

Last season, Rivers United reached the quarter final of the competition, losing to Young Africans of Tanzania.

The team will hope to equal of surpass the feat this season but will have to scale Etoile Filante’s hurdle.

With Bendel Insurance’s 2-2 home draw with RS Berkane of Morocco, Nigeria’s best hope lies with Rivers United.
