The Head Coach of Rivers United, Stanley Eguma is talking tough ahead of the return leg of the CAF Confederation Cup Second Round clash with Burkina Faso opponent, Etoile Filante.

The Port Harcourt-based side got a spirited 0-0 draw away from home in Yamussoukro last weekend and are set to host the return leg clash.

Eguma applauded his players for their first-leg performance while looking forward to the return leg.

“It’s a game of football. First of all, I want to Bank God because the result we got was a fair one,” Eguma told Brila FM.

“It wasn’t a bad result. At least the players tried their best and played according to plan even though we had planned to win. As God would have it, we came out with a draw. It was a fair result and it is not yet over until it is over.”

Meanwhile, former River United captain turned team coordinator, Festus Austin says the team will finish the work at home.

“We are happy about the result but it was not what we needed. We needed the three points. We dominated the game and couldn’t score. It is not yet over,” he told media.

“We just have to go back home and remain positive, work hard, and focus to see how we can get the three maximum points in Nigeria. I believe we will work hard and get it right.”

The winner of the game slated for October 1, 2023, will make it to the money-spinning group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Rivers United scaled past the group stage the last time out last season and made it to the quarter-final, a feat the team will hope to equal and surpass this season.
