CAF CC: Stanley Eguma explains how Rivers United bowed to Young Africans

Technical Manager of Rivers United, Stanley Eguma has opened up on reasons his side’s 2-0 humiliating defeat to Young Africans in the CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinal final leg in Uyo on Sunday.
Rivers United failed to registered a single shot on target as they conceded two second half goals courtesy of a brace from Fiston Mayele, leaving the Pride of Rivers ‘ chances of progression hanging in the balance.
And the former defunct Sharks coach attributed the defeat to profligacies and poor marksmanship, as well the absence of key players due to injury were responsible for his side’s embarrassing home loss.
“I will say it was a bad day for us. We didn’t get our acts right,” Eguma told media.
“We had some scoring chances in the first half but we couldn’t convert until the opponents scored in the second half and they came out to play. They equally got the second from a counter.
“I believe we have learnt our lessons and some of our key players that were missing would have made some difference for us.”
Following a home defat, the Nigerian champions will have to produce an extraordinary performance in the second leg fixed for Sunday in Tanzania by scoring three goals without leaking any.
