CAF CL: Frank Uwumiro’s goal gives Rangers slim advantage over Zilimadjou

Nigeria champions, Enugu Rangers edged Zilimadjou from Comoros Island 1-0 in the first leg of the 2024/2025 CAF Champions League Preliminary Round on Sunday.
A first-half goal from Frank Uwumiro ensured the Flying Antelopes secured a narrow win for Fidelis Ilechukwu’s side at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State capital.
Chiedozie Okorie had the chance to open the scoring for Rangers in the 17th minute but his effort was cleared on the line.
Uwumiro broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute of play and had the opportunity to extend it two minutes later, but his effort was futile.
Zilimadjou’s goalie saved Okorie’s attempt in the 35th minute.
The second half saw Rangers goalkeeper, Kenechukwu Agu’s saving an attempt from the opponent.
Zilimadjou almost equalised with two minutes remaining on the clock but Opubo Japhet saved the attempt.
The return leg is slated for August 23, 2024, at the same stadium.
