CAF Confederation Cup: Rivers United arrive Brazzaville for Diables Noirs clash

The contingent of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) club, Rivers United have arrived in Brazzaville Congo for Sunday’s CAF Confederation’s Cup group stage tie against Diables Noirs on Saturday.
The team touched down at the Maya Maya International Airport Brazzaville to a warm welcome from the representative of the Nigerian Ambassador to the Congo Republic, Deborah Samaila Iliya who was represented by the Chargé D’affaires of the Nigerian Embassy Mr. Boco Effiom who assured the team of maximum support from the entire Nigerian community in Brazzaville.
“On behalf of the Ambassador who is away in Nigeria on official assignment, let me say that while you are here in Brazzaville, we will be here to take care of your stay, and by the grace of God you will have a very successful time,” club’s media officer Mayuku Charles confirmed to NigeriaFootball.ng.
“We pray you to win the match. You are welcome and we wish you a lovely stay here in Brazzaville.”
In his response, the captain of the side Festus Austin who spoke on behalf of the players was full of appreciation for the Ambassador stating that the reception, especially at the airport with Nigerian brothers is a morale booster that will motivate the team not to let the Nation.
“On behalf of the players, we are happy to meet with you and our brothers and we want to reassure you that we are here to do our job and we won’t let you down.”
The Pride of Rivers led by the General Manager Dr. Okey Kpalukwu JP will confront Diables Noirs on Sunday, February 12 at the Alphonse Massamba-Debat Stadium, Stade Marchand in Brazzaville Congo.
