By Saheed Afolabi
Enyimba International head coach Yemi Olanrewaju is focused on securing a win in the return leg of their CAF Confederations Cup tie against Étoile Filante de Ouagadougou, scheduled to take place at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
The People’s Elephant were held to a 0-0 draw in the first leg in Bamako, but Olanrewaju remains optimistic about advancing to the next round with a strong performance in the second leg. He emphasized that while the first leg result was encouraging, there is no room for complacency.
“The job is far from over, and we can’t afford to celebrate yet. Next week’s return leg in Uyo will be crucial. We’ll go back to the drawing board, work harder, and prepare for the challenge ahead,” Olanrewaju said, as quoted by Enyimba International.
He praised his team for their tactical discipline in the first leg, which effectively neutralized Étoile Filante de Ouagadougou’s attacking threats. “We had a clear game plan, and the players executed it perfectly. Our tactical discipline prevented Étoile Filante de Ouagadougou from creating any meaningful scoring opportunities,” he noted.
The former Vandrezzer gaffer expressed confidence in his team’s ability to secure a positive result at home. “Étoile Filante de Ouagadougou is a formidable opponent, but we have the quality and determination to get the job done in Uyo,” he added.
The crucial return leg is set to be played on Sunday, September 22, at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
