By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed the new date for the 2024 Championship of African Nations (CHAN).

The CAF Executives (EXCO) received an update on the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (“CHAN”), Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda 2024, during their meeting on Monday.

The Competition, which was initially scheduled to start in February 2025, will now kick off on Saturday, 02 August, and the Final will be played on 30 August 2025.

The tournament, which is meant for home-based players with valid contracts with clubs, will be co-hosted by three East African countries; Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania.

Senegal, the defending champions, will face Congo, Sudan, and Nigeria in Group D.

The Super Eagles are making a return to the competition for the first time since 2018.

2018 was the team’s best performance, with a silver medal finish after a bronze medal in 2014 and a group-stage ouster in 2016.
