Edo Queens captain, Efewonkiekie Osakpolor, has expressed her team’s confidence and readiness ahead of their debut appearance at the CAF Women’s Champions League group stage in Morocco.

The Benin-based side will be making their first-ever appearance at the continental showpiece, and Osakpolor is eager for the challenge.

Reflecting on the team’s journey to qualification, she recalled the tough battles they faced but also the immense pride in overcoming those challenges.

“This is the first time that Edo Queens are participating, and the players are very much excited and prepared,” Osakpolor said.

“The first round of the league in Nigeria was tough for us. Nobody thought we would qualify, but by the grace of God, we won the league and secured our place. We hadn’t won the league before, but we did it.

“Then we went to Ivory Coast and won the Wafu B competition. It wasn’t easy, but thank God we made it.”

Osakpolor acknowledged the pressure that comes with playing at such a prestigious stage but remained undeterred.

“There’s going to be a lot of pressure, but that doesn’t mean we won’t be at our best. I can tell you we are very much prepared. We don’t care who we meet, we are ready for any team.”

Edo Queens’ debut in the CAF Women’s Champions League holds great significance, and Osakpolor’s bold statement underscores the team’s determination to make a lasting impact in Morocco.
