By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Sam Nelly goalkeeper Anams Lilian is backing her team to progress from the group stage of the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU-B Qualifiers after official draw in Abidjan on Thursday.

The draw placed Sam Nelly in Group B alongside Nigeria’s Bayelsa Queens, Ghana’s Police Ladies, and Togo’s ASKO.

Group A features hosts ASEC Mimosas (Côte d’Ivoire), AS Garde Nationale (Niger), and USFA (Burkina Faso).

“We’ve been waiting to know our opponents and now we do,” the former Delta Queens shot-stopper told Olushola Alabi.

“We won’t underrate any team in Group B — they are all strong sides. We are ready for this, and we’ll work hard to qualify from the group stage. Every match will be approached with a winning mentality.”

Anams, a key figure in Sam Nelly’s league title-winning run, urged fans to get behind the team as they chase a ticket to the main CAF Women’s Champions League tournament.

The WAFU-B Qualifiers run from August 23 to September 4, 2025, in Côte d’Ivoire.
