CAFW Women’s Champions League: Bayelsa Queens make early entry to Morocco

The last batch of Bayelsa Queens’ contingent to the CAF Women’s Champions League have arrived Casablanca ahead of the second edition of the competition on Tuesday morning.
The Nigerian champions arrived on Monday aboard a Royal Air Morocco flight before proceeding to their lodge at the Magic Village Sports Centre in Casablanca.
The Prosperity Girls are champions of the WAFU-B tournament and will hope to continue their good form at the tournament in Morocco. In preparation for the competition which begins this weekend, Domo Okara’s girls will play some friendly games in Casablanca to get themselves in shape for the tournament.
The Nigerian champions are in group B alongside current champions Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, Wadi Degla of Egypt and TP Mazembe of Democratic Republic of Congo.
As debutants, the Prosperity Girls will open their quest for the title with a thrilling tie against Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday at the Stade Grande de Marrakech before playing again TP Mazembe of Congo on November 2, then their final game will be against Wadi Degla of Egypt in Rabat on November 6.
Bayelsa Queens hope to make it out of the group stages where they will qualify for the semifinals and be assured of at least, $200,000. The winner of the competition will get $400,000 while the runner-up will get $250,000 and the two losing semi-finalists will get $200,000.
