By Oluwadamilola Olaleye

The Nigeria B national team will kick off their 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) campaign against Senegal, as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) released the full match schedule for the continental tournament.

The Group D opener between Nigeria and Senegal is scheduled for Monday, August 5, at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar, Tanzania. The match will be followed by another fixture at the same venue, with Congo taking on Sudan.

This year’s edition of CHAN, officially known as the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship 2024, will be co-hosted by Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda, marking the first time three nations will jointly stage the tournament.

The competition will officially kick off on Saturday, August 2, with co-hosts Tanzania facing Burkina Faso in the opening match at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

Group stage action continues on Sunday, August 3, in Nairobi, where Kenya will begin their campaign against the Democratic Republic of Congo at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani. Later that evening, Morocco will take on Angola at Nyayo Stadium.

The tournament will culminate with the third-place playoff on Friday, August 29, at the Mandela National Stadium in Kampala, Uganda. The final is set for Saturday, August 30, and will be hosted at the Moi International Sports Centre in Nairobi.

CHAN is a biennial tournament designed exclusively for players who are active in their national domestic leagues, offering a key platform for local talent to shine on the continental stage.
