As Nigeria’s Super Eagles B prepare to kick off their 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) campaign against defending champions Senegal tonight, team captain Junior Nduka has assured Nigerians that the squad is fully committed to making the nation proud.
Speaking during a pre-match media briefing, the Remo Stars defender vowed that the team would strive to match the recent successes of other Nigerian national teams, including the Super Falcons and D’Tigress.
“To our fellow Nigerians, I know the expectations are high because we’ve been doing well in sports, and we will try our best not to let them down,” Nduka said.
“Our women’s football team just won the WAFCON, and our D’Tigress basketball team also claimed the Afrobasket title. It’s a great record for the country, and we hope to build on that momentum.”
Nduka, who captained Remo Stars to their first-ever Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title earlier this year, will be hoping to extend that winning form as he leads the Super Eagles B side into their Group A opener.
The 2024 edition of the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) is being jointly hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania from August 2 to 30, 2025.
