Chidera Ejuke hits target in Sevilla win over Real Sociedad

By Monsurah Olatunji

Nigeria international Chidera Ejuke was the match-winner for Sevilla, scoring the only goal in their hard-fought 1-0 victory over Real Sociedad at the Reale Arena on Sunday.

Making his first start since returning from an injury layoff in January, Ejuke repaid coach Garcia Pimenta’s faith in him with a decisive performance. In the 46th minute, Sevilla capitalized on a defensive lapse from Real Sociedad.

Saul dispossessed Nayef Aguerd and quickly passed to Isaac Romero, who laid the ball off to Ejuke.

The Nigerian winger then curled a perfect shot past Sociedad’s goalkeeper, Marrero, into the bottom-left corner to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.

Ejuke’s goal not only secured the three points but also helped Sevilla leapfrog their opponents into 10th place in La Liga.

The Super Eagles star was impressive throughout the match, completing 21 out of 22 attempted passes, boasting a 100% long ball completion rate, and winning seven of the ten ground duels he contested.

Ejuke’s performance was crucial in Sevilla’s important victory as they continue to climb the La Liga standings.
