Chidozie Awaziem aims Super Eagles return at AFCON 2023

Boavista defender, Chidozie Awaziem is not ruling himself out of making Nigeria’s team for the 2023 African Cup of Nations, AFCON.

Awaziem who was one of the mainstays in the Super Eagles under Coach Gernot Rohr has been struggling for a place in the team under new coach, Jose Peseiro, no thanks to injuries and dip in performances.

Awaziem who is now back to form and playing regularly with the Portuguese side said that he’s working hard to make the AFCON party with the Super Eagles.

” I’m still available and interested in representing Nigeria,” Awaziem told media.

“I’m working hard to get back into the Super Eagles team. Nigeria has a lot of good defenders and everyone is doing well for their clubs in Europe. But I’m trying to stay fit and waiting to be recalled.”

Awaziem was part of the Super Eagles team that won Bronze at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt.
