Chinedu Obasi Secures Short-Term Deal with Bolton Wanderers Following Successful Trial Period
In a significant development for English Championship club Bolton Wanderers, former Super Eagles striker Chinedu Obasi has officially signed a short-term deal with the club until the conclusion of the current season, as reported by Completesportsnigeria.com. The announcement was made by the club on Saturday, reaffirming Obasi’s commitment to the Wanderers.
A statement released on the official Bolton Wanderers website reads, “Bolton Wanderers are pleased to confirm the signing of Chinedu Obasi on a short-term deal until the end of the season, subject to international clearance. The 31-year-old was last on the books of Swedish side AIK, and completes his move to Macron Stadium following a successful trial period.”
During his trial with Bolton Wanderers last month, Obasi showcased his prowess by scoring the winning goal in an Under-23s encounter against Burnley at Macron Stadium. This impressive performance has earned him the opportunity to contribute to Phil Parkinson’s side for the remainder of the season.
The well-traveled forward embarked on his professional career with Norwegian club Lyn Oslo in 2005, where he played alongside former Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi. Notably, Obasi has plied his trade in the German Bundesliga with 1899 Hoffenheim and Schalke 04, showcasing his versatility and experience in top-flight football.
Having also featured in the Chinese football scene with Shenzhen under the management of former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson, Obasi brings a wealth of international experience to the Wanderers. Notably, he was a pivotal member of the Super Eagles side that secured a third-place finish at the 2010 African Nations Cup in Angola.
