Chinwendu Ihezuo brace, Ayooluwa Oke’s first Goal fire Pachuca past Juarez

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria international Chinwendu Ihezuo scored twice while Ayooluwa Oke opened her league account as reigning Mexican champions Pachuca secured a 3-2 comeback win over Juarez on Saturday.

The hosts struck first in the ninth minute through Dayana Martin, but Pachuca responded quickly, with Oke netting her maiden Liga MX Femenil goal just five minutes later to level the score.

Juarez regained the lead in the 26th minute via Liliana Mercado, only for Ihezuo to cancel it out with her first of the game.

The Super Falcons forward then struck again on the stroke of halftime to seal the victory for Pachuca.

Ihezuo’s brace took her tally to four league goals this season, with the forward playing the full 90 minutes despite picking up a yellow card in the 74th minute.

Her international teammate and WAFCON 2024 winner, Osinachi Ohale, featured from the start but was replaced at halftime by Andrea Pereira.

Meanwhile, 19-year-old Oke, an American youth international of Nigerian descent, made way for veteran Veronica Corral in the 82nd minute after opening her Pachuca account.

The win keeps Pachuca second on the table with 23 points, one behind leaders Club América. The champions return to action on September 15, 2025, when they host Necaxa.
