Chinwendu Ihezuo: Nigeria forward nets second goal for Monterrey against Juarez

Nigeria forward Chinwendu Ihezuo helped her Mexican side, Monterrey to a 2-0 win over Juarez to keep the visitors’ perfect league record on Saturday.
Monterrey had won its previous seven league games ahead of Saturday’s encounter, while Juarez were unbeaten in its last three games with victories over Atlas (2-1) and UANL Tigres (3-1) but a 1-1 draw with Club Tijuana last term.
Ihezuo had opened her goal account for Eva Espejo’s side against Necaxa last Monday and continued from where she left off, opening the scoring for the visitors in the 13th minute.
29 minutes later, Rebeca Bernal doubled the lead for Las Rayadas to end the contest as the second half became a cagey affair at the Estadio Olimpico Benito Juarez.
The former Guangdong Meizhou Hakka forward, Chinwendu played for the duration of the game and claimed the player of the match prize.
Guadalupe-based Monterrey has now won its first eight games of the Mexican Liga MX Clausura and tops the log ahead of Guadalajara Chivas which has 19 points with a game to spare against Atlas on Monday.
The two-time Liga MX winners will take its perfect record to the Cancha El Barrial, Santiago where it will meet Pachuca on March 14, 2023.
