Chinwendu Ihezuo: Nigeria forward opens goal account for Monterrey in Mexico

After representing Nigeria at the maiden Revelation Cup in Mexico, Chinwendu Ihezuo returned to her club and scored her first goal for Mexican Liga MX side, Monterrey.
Ihezuo, 25, opened the scoring for Monterrey in the 17th minute at the Cancha El Barrial, Santiago.
The goal propelled her team to score two more goals in the first half en route a 3-0 win over Necaxa.
Christina Burkenroad doubled the host lead in the 22nd minute before Rebecca Bernal converted Monterrey’s third goal Ttn minutes later.
The former Guangdong Meizhou Hakka player, Ihezuo played full 90 minutes for Monterrey as she scored her first goal for the league leaders.
Chinwendu played for Delta Queens in the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership before moving abroad to ply her trade with Kazakhstan side, BIIK Kazygurt.
She also played for Henan Jianye before joining Guangdong Meizhou Hakka and the win maintained Monterey’s perfect start to the season with seven wins out of seven games.
The team top the log with a maximum of 21 points after seven games. A trip to the Estadio Olimpico Benito Juarez awaits Monterrey where it will face Juarez on March 4, 2023.
